Tad Craig Photography bio picture

Greetings from Beautiful Maui Hawaii

Born in Aspen, and raised in Telluride, Colorado, Tad has
always had a passion for the outdoors and a reverence for the
beauty of his natural surroundings.

Tad received his first camera, a Nikon FE2, as a high school
graduation gift. Since then, he has been obsessed with
perfecting his craft, constantly pushing himself to create
better, more beautiful images. He began his career as a sports
photographer shooting extreme sports in Colorado, Oregon, and
Hawaii.

The transition from Sports to Wedding Photographer evolved  with the help of three things: A Public Relations degree from C.U. Boulder, years of experience working in Five Star Hotels
and a solid photography background. Tad skillfully blends
traditional techniques with spontaneous photojournalism. The
striking quality of his photographs is rooted in the basics:
clean, simple compositions, a candid eye toward his subjects,
and the ability to step out of the way to allow the
breathtaking beauty of the Pacific speak for itself.

Tad prides himself on treating clients like friends and takes an
invitation to photograph every event to heart. His professional,
easy going personality will help make your special day relaxed,
hassle free, and fun. His creative eye, attention to detail, and
friendly, approachable nature have made him one of the most sought
after photographers on the Islands. His gift for connecting with
people and consistently delivering beautiful images will help turn
your wedding dreams into reality.

Erica & Jon’s Gorgeous International Maui Wedding!

Location, location location!

You know how you always hear that phrase? Well from the very first moment upon my arival at The Gorgeous, Ocean Front Estate on Maui’s west side, I was amazed with its beauty. With the sound of the waves breaking almost at your feet & the Rich Color your eyes are feasting on, you are left stopped in your tracks. Of course both the Bride & groom were loving it as well. Jon’s family had just flown in from England & they to were soaking in the beauty of the day! Tori Rogers of Hawaiian Weddings had taken care of all the details with Delables Flowers making their flowers magical! Dennis Derego took care of the minstery duties & finally after 7 years it was done & they were married. Enjoy the pictures & the Beauty of Maui.

Congrats to Erica & Jon & Many Mahalos for making me a part of your gorgeous day! Tad

A Gannon’s Affair in Wailea.

Rebecca tried to cancel her first date with Geoff because she was too nervous (and the season finale of The Bachelor was airing). She told him she was too busy and tired but he convinced her they would just meet briefly since it was a work night for both of them. They made it home around 3:00 am after talking on a bench by a lake all night. Geoff eventually proposed on that same bench a little over a year later and the rest is history!
Just two years later, they said their “I Do’s” to each other at the stunning Gannon’s Restaurant overlooking the Pacific Ocean! With their family & a few closest friends, they united as ONE and had blast along the way!

My very best to Rebecca & Geoff. Have a Fantastic life together! Tad

Ryan Marries his Angelena ~ Honua Kai Lani Estate

Both Angelena & Ryan are local Maui’ans, so when I was asked to shoot their wedding at The Sugarmans Estate ( also called Honua Kai Lani Estate) in Makena, I knew it was going to be a giant of a wedding. With my assisant Marie-Claude in tow, we were excited to see all the work they had done to have an incredible wedding @ an exceptional location! I had been told that the wedding party was BIG, but I didn’t know it was going to be 26 people! NO problem though, as it was easy & really fun shooting Ryan with all his buds & Angelena with all her (sassy) girlfriends. We were blessed with lots of clouds making the lighting stunning & very soft. LOVE that lighting!
The evening, of course, happened at lightning speed & suddenly is was their first dance. Having practiced lots for it, Angelena & Ryan destroyed the dance floor with HOT move after HOT move. It was a great first dance, with the 200 people in attendance all standing & clapping afterwards. It was also super cool having their cute little dog there as well.
Of course all the little kids stole the show looking extra cute in pictures! I love the shots of the two of them under the arch, but as a portrait photographer I love the character in the guy with the black hat. My VERY favorite image though, (just cause its different), is the very last back lit shot of the post. So dramatic!
My very best goes to Angelena & Ryan on a Gorgeous wedding & a fantastic start of their new life together.
A Hui Ho! Tad

Hannah & Tim’s ~ Their Perfect Wedding at Olowalu Plantation House

Upon arrival @ The Gorgeous Olowalu Plantation House, we were treated to a stunning venue put together by White Orchid Wedding.
The “rustic look” white flowers arrangements were very beautiful on all the tables ~ specially all the details on the vases!!! They had a hint of light pink and so many little details that were to die for!!! The arches, the wedding dress, the bridemaids dress, the dress hanger ( marked “bride” in metal) the sparkle shoes, her something blue, the groom colored socks, the delicious cake, the pink table clothes, the bouquets and the two little flower girls with their crowns… everything was perfect. Really!
They also had that BLUE~BLUE sky that we all love so much because it makes the prettiest background on all photos!
With all of Hannah’s bridesmaids hovering around making sure no details were overlooked, Hannah just looked radiant!
Hannah’s parents walked her down the aisle with tears in their eyes. It was very touching! Of course the little flower girls had to steal the show for a while, being “EXTRA CUTE” in front of all the guests.
Tim had a traditional breaking of the glass & sweet kiss to seal the deal. Very beautiful ceremony I must say! Maui again delivered a beautiful sunset! I especially enjoyed the fire show put on by Manutea Nui E. Wow! Was it ever AMAZING!
Congratulations to Hannah & Tim!
Enjoy the pictures & thank you much for letting me a part of your special day!

Our Precious Favorite Italian Couple!

Congratulations to Vanessa & Ricardo for their very beautiful & very fun wedding at The Olowalu Plantation House! Planning their wedding all the way from Italy was quite a challenge, but after months & months of planning & countless emails, the day arrived & Maui once again put on an amazing show with Stunning weather & a Gorgeous wedding location. In addition to the bride & groom coming from Italy, most of the family also traveled the long distance to be part of the festivities. Vanessa looked stunning in a sassy form fitting dress & OMG did she ever laugh & laugh & laugh. Actually everyone was just having such a good time soaking in the beauty of the day. I have lots of favorite shots, but especially love the last B&W shot in the post. That was just such a pure moment to capture as you can almost “FEEL” the love they have for each other! ENJOY the pics & again Congrats to Vanessa & Ricardo!

Kelly & Thomas have a Great Story!

Check this out for a romantic story. They actually met in 1998 on New Years Eve & lost touch until years later. That quick meeting though had a lasting impresion though as years later, Thomas confessed his love for her. Exactly to the very day, ELEVEN YEARS later, Kelly & Thomas went out for their FIRST date on New Years EVE. Since then they have been inseparable. Their wedding was gorgeous, as they had rented this SUPER SWEET house on Maui’s west side with ALL of their really important people in attendance. As soon as the “I DO’s” were said the “PARTY WAS ON”! Look for the second rainbow picture. That is actually a “MOON BOW” as it was totally dark out. Congrats to Kelly & Thomas! Enjoy the Images!

Rachel & Michael’s Sweet Maui Beach Wedding

This was a a great couple full of joy & laughter & SO EXCITED to finally get married. Altough the wind was blowing really hard at the begining, it eventually subsided.
They both laughed & enjoyed the moment.
Tori Rogers of Hawaiian Island Wedding Planners took care of all of the beautiful details.
Alalani of Kuhina Hawaiian Blessing’s made it official with a very special ceremony. Great Couple & I wish them the very best!
Aloha

September 20, 2011 - 7:38 PM Tori Rogers - Tad, the photos came out awesome! They had so much fun with the photo session! Thanks for being your amazing, talented self!

TEN years in the making & Ileana and Dax finally Marry!

From earlier conversations with the coordinator I knew this wedding was going to be “Super Fabulous”! I just did not know HOW “Super Fabulous” it actually was going to be.
Ileana & Dax had been dating for ten years and have a three year old daughter. She had bought her AMAZING dress, three years earlier, and had kept it hidden from her husband for all that time.
Living in Las Vegas, their busy lifestyle had not permited them to get married sooner & finally the day came to say “I DO”!
With about 60 of their closest friends & family, they said their nuptials to each other. The evening was beautiful with soft clouds making the light easy to work with & comfortable as everyone enjoyed the evening. Their little girl was SO Cute. She constantly was doing little “cute” things which made for great photos.
Their sunset they scored was also amazing.
Leah Robb of Island Wedding Memories not only coordinated the evenings events, but also made all the incredible flowers that adorned the tables.

Enjoy the pictures & Congrats to Ileana & Dax!

Finally after years & years, Nancy & Keith Marry!

OMG! Nancy & Keith have such an awesome story!
Having dated for a VERY long time, Keith has been deployed in Iraq for 4 tours & Afghanistan for 2 tours.
Keeping the faith that her fiance would remain safe after all that time in harms way, they retreated to Maui at The Westin Resort & Spa to finally say their “I Do’s” to one another.
Throughout the evening, passerby’s kept wishing them “Congratulations”.
When we walked through the pool bar area, everyone there started clapping! I got “chicken skin” from the reception they received. Very Cool!
Like all these people, I also want to say: “Congratulations & thank you so much for your service to this country!”
It was truly an honor being a part of it! Enjoy the pictures! Tad
